Craft Concepts. Chapter 5.

We're thrilled to introduce the SAGA shape. We got the team together in the Craft shop to build a modern shape that maintains a traditional style. We took inspirations from our classic Shift and Nova shapes, and added modern improvements for next generation playability.  We built a thick slip ring for a solid, compact grip at the base of the Ken. The cup rims are angled for secure stalls and stilt tricks. We smoothed out many of the angles for a softer overall feel, and a comfortable experience for juggles.

Each Ken comes pre strung with a bearing, packed securely in a customized Craft carrying bag. Pick from your choice of sustainably sourced North American maple or birch wood. Like all Crafts, every Saga Shape Ken is made with care here in the USA by experienced Kendama players.

Key features of this Kendama:
  • Classic Ken Height
  • Smooth Edges for a Comfortable Grip
  • Angled Cup Perches to Lock In Stall Tricks
  • Thick Slip Ring Design
  • Snug Tama-to-Sarado Connection
  • Lunar Ready & Slinger Ready
  • Deep Base-Cup Hole For Great Weight Distribution & Control
  • Designed by the Kendama USA Team
  • 100% Produced in the USA by Experienced Kendama Players

The Saga shape is fantastic

The first thing that stood out to me about Kendama USA's Saga shape is its classic looks. I have played the Jet shape (I'm a fan) and compared with the Jet, the Saga's cup diameters are basically the same. However, the thickness of the stall points (cup rims) on the Saga are a few millimeters narrower. The ring is wider on the Saga and it is a little bit shorter in the sword. The base cup hole is a little bit deeper compared with the Jet's. The Saga is a solid all around shape and it lunars even better than the Jet. I think the Saga feels more balanced (better proportioned) compared to the Luna. I am happy that the Saga shape comes in birch because I very much enjoy a birch wood setup. I hope KUSA decides to bring the Saga to their kaizen line because it is a fantastic shape.

Saga Shape is so good

KUSA really knocked it out of the park with this one. Good all around play in a kendama. A little bit shorter than the luna Ken, it flips really smoothly and straight. Great lunar balance, and stall points. 10/10
